Job Description:

Successful Senior Accountant candidates will possess the entrepreneurial drive and spirit to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving business environment (non-profit status). Individual must possess a solid working knowledge of general accounting practices and general ledger maintenance. Strong practical experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Great Plains and strong mathematical and analytical skills are also required. The Senior Accountant role will perform a multitude of accounting, finance, and administrative duties in a variety of areas. They will maintain financial reports, records, and general ledgers; help in preparing and analyzing budgets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Completes bank reconciliation on timely manner.
Prepare and maintain fixed assets and CIP schedules.
Responsible for analysis and reconciliation of specific general ledger accounts.
Prepare and maintain Investment spreadsheet and reconcile it with monthly statements.
Responsible for daily cash balancing and monthly bank reconciliation.
Help Controller in getting ready for the annual financial and 403 (b) audit.
Help Controller in preparing consolidated internal and external financial statements.
Support and assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Provide ad-hoc analysis to the team when requested.
Prepare general ledger entries with minimum supervision.
Support and assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual bond covenant requirement.
Support and assist with the yearly budget.
Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
Other duties as assigned.


Education Background

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience.


Licensure, Registration, Certification

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.


Special Training/Skills

Working understanding of GAAP
Preferred experience with Great Plains and Point Click Clear
Intermediary level experience in Microsoft Excel
General Ledger reconciliations experience
Strict attention to detail, highly organized and efficient
Strong written and verbal communication skills


Work Experience

Minimum of three to five years of managerial accounting experience.
