Description: Our client is currently seeking a Mission Design
Engineer - ADP
As part of a diverse group of spacecraft development engineers, you
will study and develop advanced concepts for launch vehicles,
in-space systems, planetary landers, and crewed vehicles. You will
be responsible for trajectory analysis and mission design of
various spaceflight systems. This position will directly impact the
history of space exploration, and your dedicated commitment and
detailed attention will further the cause of safe and repeatable
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Assess Aerospace engineering and vehicle design problems by
developing use cases, concepts of operation, and driving
Trade, optimize, and define system architectures and missions
Collaborate with other system engineers and design engineers to
perform conceptual design, sizing, and analysis
Model and optimize Earth-to-orbit trajectories for a range of
launch vehicle configurations.
Identify launch windows
Perform in-space mission design and trajectory analysis, including
multi-body transfer orbits and destinations such as Lagrange points
and halo orbits.
Incorporate and validate aerodynamic data and be able to generate
simple aerodynamic models for well-characterized bodies.
Incorporate propulsion system models across the entire range of
thrust classes: from electric propulsion to first-stage booster
Use a fundamental knowledge of flight and orbital mechanics to
sanity check the results of inscrutable computer programs.
Write cogent and succinct technical memos and devise innovative,
intuitive, and delightful ways to visualize quantitative
Qualifications & Requirements:Minimum of a M.S. degree in Aerospace
Engineering or equivalent
Applied industry experience and/or Ph.D. focused on development of
spacecraft conceptual mission designs
Demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering practices such as
requirements and verification, system architecture, developing
CONOPS, creating models and performing system simulations,
performing trade studies, and establishing system metrics
A strong, solid understanding of orbital mechanics, astrodynamics,
launch vehicle flight mechanics, and atmospheric flight
Experience using trajectory analysis tools such as OTIS, STK
Astrogator, or Copernicus.
Experience with a scripting language or platform such as MATLAB or

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident

Ph.D. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace engineering
Familiarity with version control, preferably Git.
Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
