Description: Our client is currently seeking a Trajectory Analysis and Optimization Engineer - AD

As part of a hardworking group of diverse spacecraft development engineers, you will be responsible for the trajectory analysis and optimization for various spaceflight systems.

This job will have the following responsibilities:

Model and optimize Earth-to-orbit trajectories for a range of launch vehicle configurations.

Identify launch windows for missions.

Perform in-space mission design and trajectory analysis, including multi-body transfer orbits and destinations such as Lagrange points and halo orbits.

Incorporate and validate aerodynamic data and be able to generate simple aerodynamic models for well-characterized bodies.

Incorporate propulsion system models across the entire range of thrust classes: from electric propulsion to first-stage booster engines.

Use a fundamental knowledge of flight and orbital mechanics to sanity check the results of inscrutable computer programs.

Work closely with systems and design engineers to develop integrated design solutions, rapidly assess conceptual designs.

Write cogent and succinct technical memos and devise innovative, intuitive, and delightful ways to visualize quantitative information.

Qualifications & Requirements:Minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering

Industry experience and/or M.S. degree in trajectory optimization and spacecraft mission design

Experience using trajectory analysis tools such as OTIS, STK Astrogator, or Copernicus.

Experience with a scripting language or platform such as MATLAB or Python

Experience working collaboratively in small teams on fast-paced projects

Use excellent judgement and be comfortable making high-quality and high-velocity decisions Ability to execute in a dynamic, fast-paced, and driven work environment

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace engineering

Familiarity with all major spacecraft subsystems (e.g. command and data handling, propulsion, attitude determination and control) and in-depth knowledge of several of them

Knowledge of aerospace guidance, navigation, and control

Experience leading small study teams

Familiarity with version control, preferably Git.

Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
