Contractor Work Model: Remote Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and resourceful Core Component
Stress Analysis Engineer. In this critical role, you will conduct
stress analyses for structures operating in high-temperature and
high-neutron fluence environments, supporting the design
development of various Reactor Core Components (RCC) and Core
Support Systems (CSS) for a Generation IV Reactor. You will
collaborate with a dynamic team of engineers and scientists focused
on advancing the design of next-generation nuclear reactors.
Responsibilities:
Perform stress analysis for Reactor Core Assemblies utilizing
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand calculations.
Present analysis results to both internal and external
stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.
Collaborate closely with the Core Component Design team on
engineering design activities and requirements.
Engage with multidisciplinary Engineering and Project Teams to
provide inputs and support design solutions.
Promote continuous learning and application of nuclear industry
best practices to uphold the highest quality of engineering
design.
Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and
enhancements.
Key Qualifications: Education: B.S. degree in Mechanical
Engineering or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Minimum of ten years of structural analysis experience;
relevant M.S. and Doctorate degrees may account for up to two and
four years of experience, respectively.
Proficient in using FEA for nonlinear analyses, with a strong
emphasis on ANSYS or ABAQUS.
Familiarity with first-principles calculations and reference
materials for closed-form approximations (e.g., Shigley's,
Roark's).
Experience with scripting languages such as APDL or Python.
Knowledge of standalone CAD packages, with SolidWorks
preferred.
Working experience with design codes, including ASME Boiler and
Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section III, Division I, Division V,
Section VIII, Division II, and API 579-1/ASME FFS-1.
Excellent writing and communication skills, with a strong emphasis
on teamwork and integrity.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to
work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
