Digital Control Incorporated (DCI) is the world's leading supplier of underground locating and steering products for the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) industry. DCI invented, and was first to market, innovative underground guidance technology allowing contractors to control the pitch angle of the drill head tooling and measure its depth below ground. Since the introduction of this revolutionary technology 30 years ago, Digital Control has been at the forefront of trenchless technologies that enable the efficient distribution of underground utilities such as fiber optic, telecom, gas, sewer and water lines. Our products are used around the world by underground distribution contractors and are valued for their durable design, ease of use and Digital Control's uncompromising commitment to customer service. Our Kent, WA headquarters is now searching for a Director of Human Resources to lead our HR function. This critical business leadership position leads the people engine for DCI's world class, innovative business. As the top HR Leadership professional reporting to ownership, you will lead and execute DCI's global people strategies and champion a fun and innovative culture of continuous improvement. You will lead primarily through influence with empathy and humility vs. authority and will be a role model for others to do the same. You will be an active member of the Executive Management Team and will help shape the future of this dynamic company and industry. DCI is considered an essential manufacturer during the COVID-19 pandemic with some of our workforce working remotely and the remainder working from our physical location in Kent, WA. This position requires physical location in the Puget Sound geography. Responsibilities:

  • Strategic and tactical leadership for all people related processes tied to business strategies: Organization planning, recruiting, compensation and benefits, US and Global HR support, leadership coaching, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and safety
  • Lead and organize the HR team to meet the needs of the business, build team capability and deliver on annual objectives
  • Optimize HR services through streamlined processes and use of technology that results in practical and helpful solutions for employees
  • Utilize effective consulting and change management techniques to elevate leadership capabilities, provide guidance on issue resolution and drive innovation
  • Serve as a member of the company management team participating in developing company strategy and monitoring the health of the business and industry
  • Leadership of global HR operations and processes for the US headquarters in Kent, WA and our global offices in India, China, Germany, Russia, Australia, and the Philippines.
  • Protect and enhance the uniqueness of the DCI employee culture and continue to build DCI's employment brand Requirements:
    • 10 years in executive HR leadership including experience as part of a business or cross functional leadership team
    • 5 years of experience managing HR professionals
    • Experience with HR leadership in both the US and multiple global operations.
    • Proven experience in positions that require a strong mix of business skills, leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and sound judgment in driving organizational effectiveness
    • Highly collaborative people leadership style, focusing on the development of future potential of all employees
    • Strong relatability to people-- able to build trusting relationships with the highest ethical and confidentiality standards
    • Excellent written and one-to-one communication skills
    • Strong multi-cultural awareness and an understanding how to support a broad and diverse set of employees around the world
    • Experience with privately held technology and manufacturing industries
    • Experience leading safety processes, safety teams and building safety engagement with employees
    • Experience utilizing technology to improve HR systems (i.e., HR analytics, dashboard reporting, HRIS and ATS efficacy)
