PRIMARY DUTIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

- Lead the development and implementation of strategic engineering plans for product and process improvements and formally develop and manage internal engineering innovation road maps supporting the overall business objectives of Oberto Snacks. Develop methods for capital uses for operational resiliency, efficiency, and expansion strategies.
- Provide proactive leadership with full P&L responsibility for manufacturing operations, Engineering, Capital Management, and Maintenance, and provide input and direction to understand and improve manufacturing processes aligned with company strategic goals. Activities include identifying issues and problems, scoping out innovations, budgets, defining solutions, delegating and managing people and resources to implement plans, ensuring quality controls are maintained, and solving manufacturing product and process issues pre-emptively and proactively.
- Use lean manufacturing engineering principles and routine exercises to design and layout production lines, work areas, manufacturing processes, and production equipment.
- Embrace Kaizen and establish a culture of continuous improvement and best practice sharing that results in the most effective use of resources, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
- Be accountable for selecting primary process technologies and equipment requirements to meet current and forecasted business production, operating cost, and quality needs.
- Establish, document, and improve manufacturing processes in support of new products and design changes.
- Work with R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Sales to ensure a timely transition of projects from development to market launch.
- Monitor system engineering process and project implementations.
- Participate in vendor equipment selection, price negotiation, coordination, and procurement of engineering projects.
- Direct and comprehensive management of all engineering, environmental and maintenance projects, including full-time and part-time employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Lead team through coaching, training, development, and technical skill building to align with the long-term manufacturing strategic plan.
- Identification of best-in-class equipment, processes, facilities, etc.
- Maintain company Environmental, Social, and Governance reporting.
- Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
- Maintain accountability to Oberto Snacks' Food Safety and Quality Principles and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
- All other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; Mechanical or Process Engineering preferred; Electrical and Fluid Mechanics also helpful.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Six Sigma or Lean Certification Preferred.
- PE License, preferred
- Boiler certification, preferred
- PMP preferred
EXPERIENCE
- 7-10 years experience managing plant engineering supporting a fast-paced, growth-oriented manufacturing environment; experience in food manufacturing preferred.
- 5 years experience with sophisticated packaging equipment in the consumer packaged goods industry preferred.
- 3-5 years experience in one or more of the following roles: process control, process engineer, facility engineer, project engineer, packaging engineer, maintenance supervisor/manager.
KNOWLEDGE
- Must have knowledge and understanding of food manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Competency in Auto-Cad
- Working Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and Manufacturing Control technologies
- Must have a working knowledge of manufacturing operations equipment and technology, including but not limited to PLC wiring and ladder logics, hydraulics, pneumatics, motor controls, refrigeration, boilers, mechanics, and electrical. - Data Acquisition and related manufacturing tools to drive OEE improvements - Working knowledge of maintenance management, CMMS's, root cause, and problem solving
- Knowledge of FDA, OSHA, WISHA, and PSAPA regulations impacting meat and food processing operations.
- Understands HACCP requirements; especially on equipment, maintenance, and sanitation requirements
SKILLS & ABILITIES

- Proven project management skills
- Familiarity with high-speed food manufacturing processes
- Basic competency in Statistical Process Control.

- Advanced-expert computer skills (MS Project, Excel; Word; PowerPoint, Outlook).
