Position Reporting to the Sr. Director of Operations, the
Purchasing Manager is responsible for providing a strong
operational leadership to the manufacturing facility with direct
responsibility for planning, developing and buying materials,
parts, supplies and equipment in a timely and cost-effective way
while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all HandyTube
employees.
- Select, qualify and manage vendor, supplier and sub-contractor
relationships and assist in building effective partnerships with
key suppliers and customers.
- Negotiate and help lower costs by securing agreements.
- Execute supplier scorecards, monitor and insist corrective
actions where required.
- Improve cash position via reduced inventories of non-core
material, excess and obsolete material and material for scrap.
- Review quotations approve and issue orders for materials and
services in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and
conditions with appropriate authorization to ensure the timely
receipt of necessary materials.
- Manage inventory control "layout" position assuring accurate
physical inventories.
- Support miscellaneous duties and assist other departments in
developing and implementing purchasing strategies associated with
purchasing, i.e., scrap sales, equipment purchase, freight
arrangements, etc.
- Continually develop expertise to support growth of new
projects.
- Monitor trends in supplier and contract base and implement
plans to react.
- Ensure supplier compliance with site and company requirements
for safety.
- Maintain procurement files.
- Liaise with Finance/Accounts Payable to ensure accurate timely
payment of invoices as necessary.
- Work closely with Sales, Operations and Finance functions.
- Ensure material availability for production needs.
- Improve negotiated rates with key suppliers.
- Account management.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- 5 years plus experience in all aspects of procurement.
- A BS in Business is preferred.
- Experience with QAD or other EAM systems is required.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite.
- Strong analytical capabilities combined with problem solving
and proficient computer skills.
- Hands-on leader, understanding procurement details and
translating them into operational and strategic opportunities.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate and relate to people at all levels of an
organization.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-directed with attention to detail, and the ability to
manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and
tools, reach with hands and arms, and regularly lift and/or move up
to 50 pounds.
- Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management
skills.
