Job Description:
Schedule/travel: Full-time calendar year position. Must be able
to work a flexible schedule as needed, including evening/weekend
hours. Travel for engagement and cultivation events
required.FLSA/Classification: StaffHousing: NoPosition Summary:The
Director of the Parents Fund works with the Chief Advancement
Officer, the Director of Development and the Director of Alumni and
Parent Engagement to develop and implement a strategic and
comprehensive program to identify, engage, solicit, and steward
parents of current students, parents of alumni, and grandparents.
The Director works collaboratively with volunteers, donors, and
colleagues in the Alumni & Development Office as well as other
departments. This position reports to the Chief Advancement
Officer.Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan for the Kent
Parents Fund working closely with the Chief Advancement Officer,
the Director of Development, the Director of Alumni Giving, and the
Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement. This includes cultivation
outreach, managing a travel schedule, drafting appeals,
coordinating print and email solicitations, and managing online
giving campaigns.
- With the help of Advancement Services and Parent Engagement,
identify major gift prospects among current parents and parents of
alumni.
- Manage a prospect portfolio of approximately 25 major gift
prospects capable of making gifts and/or pledges of $100,000 or
more.
- Complete 3 to 5 face-to-face meetings per month. Travel as
needed to meet with parents, with the possibility of international
travel.
- Increase support to the Annual Fund and other School priorities
through gifts of $1,906 or more to The 1906 Club, Kent's leadership
giving society.
- Work closely with the Chief Advancement Officer and Director of
Donor Relations to manage moves management on parent prospects and
donors.
- Recruit and manage parent volunteers for the Parent's
Association (PA) Fundraising Committee.
- Oversee Senior Parent Gift, including identifying gift
initiatives, coordinating mailings, recruiting, and supporting
senior parent volunteers.
- Assist the Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement with PA
initiatives beyond the Fundraising Committee, including planning
events, collaborating with campus partners, developing and managing
communications, and family events programming.
- Attend signature Alumni and Development Events including family
events, Reunion Weekend, and regional events.
- Work closely with Admissions, The Dean's Office, Technology and
across all departments to ensure collaboration and accuracy of
information and parent data.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer and
the Director of Development.Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree and 5+ years of development or relevant
experience, with a preference for a background at an independent
boarding school or higher education.
- Experience with constituent databases.
- A proven track record of successful collaboration with both
internal and external constituents.
- Experience driving institutional change through an
organization's history through a communicative, collaborative, and
inclusive approach.
- Be fluent with, and committed to, the mission of the
School.
- Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the full range of
experience within a development team.
- Possess a high degree of professional discretion, integrity,
good judgment, and high standards of professional conduct.
- Collaborate actively by soliciting and suggesting new ideas and
improving upon the ideas of others.
- Superior organizational and planning skills that enable the
department and School to meet both short and long-term
goals.Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal
