Job Description:

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 11 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Will accept a traveler with 1 year of experience in a larger trauma setting. - Experience with cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, AMS, respiratory issues, abdominal pain, and mental health cases is preferred. Description: Primary location is designated for emergency services. Travelers may be required to float to other designated facilities within the region as needed. Travellers can earn additional compensation when floated within the region. The emergency room has a capacity of 56 beds, with hall beds increasing this to 60-70. There is a fast track area with 6 beds. A separate triage area is available with 5 beds. Travelers may take a triage test; however, generally, department staff will handle triage duties. The emergency department has 18 designated beds for holding inpatients awaiting placement. Emergency nurses manage their own ER holds, although inpatient RNs may float to assist. There are separate psych/seclusion rooms available. In-house security is present. The department handles approximately 170-200 patients per day. Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1:3, or 1:4 for low acuity cases. ED Technicians are responsible for EKGs, and respiratory therapists manage respiratory equipment. Radiology services are available adjacent to the emergency department, with transport assisting patient movement. Nursing staff or ED Technicians primarily draw blood. Weekends are required every other week, with holiday shifts based on staffing needs. There is no call or standby requirement, but extra shifts are available at the traveler’s discretion. Professional colors are required for the dress code. Unit orientation includes compliance information and department-specific training. No time-off requests will be considered during the first full week of assignment. The facility reserves the right to cancel shifts per assignment length. Charting is conducted using an electronic medical record system. A nursing degree is not required for consideration.
