The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Data Link Software Engineer (Level 4) to join the Digital Acceleration Products and Capabilities team located in Tukwila, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The Products and Capabilities organization is a BDS business unit software factory that is all about rapidly innovating and deploying new solutions to the dynamic defense industry. We have a number of existing and growing software product families. Our teams embrace an Agile mindset allowing them to adjust and adapt to changing customer demands.

The Products and Capabilities organization leverages the complex interconnection of digital threads between BDS's modeling and simulation environment and the platforms currently in service today, as well as future products. In addition our DevSecOps initiative lays the foundation to create a secure Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI\CD) pipeline to ensure safety, quality, and security, which are key tenants for our defense customers. These elements fully support the Products and Capabilities organization's mission and vision to " Rapidly innovate, develop, and deploy mission systems designs and software capabilities ensuring warfighter superiority ".

Partnering with both internal and external organizations, the Interoperability team provides the technical leadership to develop key enabling technologies and execute demonstrations to support the seamless sharing of data and information with other platforms. This includes managing onboard data links, moderating communication paths and available bandwidth, and translating between onboard and offboard messaging standards.

The selected team member enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement. They will support the development of solutions to a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. They should be adaptable to new development environments and eager to work with and learn new technologies. They will work closely with stakeholders to build out future roadmaps and coordinate the development of plans for their team.

Position Responsibilities:
Work very closely with Business Owner, Product Management, System Architects and to define product requirements and collaborate within Agile teams to drive product management activities

Consistently assess and analyze the impact of existing and new features

Propose improvements to existing features, communicate and priorities these changes along with other development priorities and projects

Performs activities to support opportunities for existing products & gathers data on customer needs to identify product opportunities

Organize a cross-functional team of developers, designers and stakeholders to develop and drive impactful product launches

Discovers new opportunities and solutions for problems by looking beyond current practices and using innovative thinking

Work with the team to break Features into User Stories for PI Planning events

Provide acceptance criterion for the Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD) for stories

Collect, maintain and disseminate information to stakeholders on an ongoing basis

Manage timelines and follow multiple product roadmaps to organize timely feature releases and minimize release delays

Drives the product demos & owns incorporating feedback given into the product

Owns stake holder management

Managing multiple products through various lifecycles

Design and develop interoperability services using real-time software architectures and designs

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship . Ability to obtain a final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start)

Possess a Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or other technical degree

8+ years of Software Engineering experience

Experience Java, C++, and/or other Object Oriented programming languages

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
An active U.S. Security Clearance

Experience in an Agile leadership role (i.e. Scrum Master or Product Owner)

Experience developing network focused software

Mentoring and/or Leadership experience

Experience working with embedded software systems

Experience with developing or using modeling and simulation tools.

Experience with Link-16, TTNT, or other DoD Data Link standards

Experience with Open Mission Systems (OMS)

Self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, strong analytical and creative problem solving skills and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.

Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area

Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

Ability to analyze business domain knowledge, perform requirements analysis, and develop business domain process models.

Understands the definition of requirements for improving processes and systems, reducing their costs, enhancing their sustainability, and the quantification of potential business benefits.

Ability to collaborate and iterate viable specifications and acceptance criteria in preparation for the deployment of information and communication systems.

The adoption and adaptation of business analysis approaches based on the context of the work and selecting appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches.

Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments (e.g., design, test, develop, deploy, support) & Knowledge of the concepts and processes of managing a software system throughout the entire life cycle.)

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience)

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.
