Main Purpose of Job
This position will provide counseling to clients with substance use disorders by using intervention, treatment and rehabilitation. This position will be expected to provide a full continuum of care through individualized, group and family therapy, as well as through the education and development of healthy lifestyle skills.rrrThis position will receive general supervision from an Alcohol and Drug Professional Counselor Supervisor, as well as from other supervisors approved by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. This is professional-level work at the Certified Bachelor's degree level, with expectation that the certification will be kept active.r
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelors degree in a health or human services Counseling field from an accredited educational institution approved by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists, or completion of a program of studies judged by the Board to be substantially equivalent in subject matter and training.rrExperience:None.rr
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should have experience preparing, monitoring and documenting treatment plans, as well as the effectiveness of such plans, for clients with a substance use disorder. The desired candidate should also have experience planning and conducting individual, family and group therapy sessions, along with case management services.r
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
r1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates must apply for, and receive, a letter of authorization to practice as a trainee from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists within 90 days of their date of hire.r2. Employees must successfully obtain certification or licensure from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug within one year of meeting the experience requirements for Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.r3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.rr
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing, in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.r
