As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will work with partners in HR and senior leaders across the organization to diagnose, design, and implement structure, process and people changes that best align the capabilities of people at Blue Origin to the mission. As Senior Organizational Design Specialist, you'll influence large-scale transformation efforts and work independently on targeted initiatives across Blue Origin. Your organizational design work will focus on development of people strategies in partnership with HR Business Partners and businesses as well as organizational design projects to assess and align roles and people to the organization's needs. You'll partner on projects such as organization assessments, strategy definition, organization design, and organizational culture and core values. In addition, you will build scalable mechanisms, tools, and resources for our approach to talent strategies and to enable leaders to drive their own organization design using best practices and solutions.
The ability to take a detailed approach while influencing senior leaders' attitudes and behaviors about talent strategies, organization structures, and approaches to change to enable effective and timely choices will determine success in this role. The ideal candidate will be able to complete organization assessments and diagnose organization and talent opportunities using data and insights from variety of sources to determine root causes and propose fit-for-purpose solutions to address needs within larger enterprise context.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct organization assessments with HR Business Partners to help leaders identify areas for improvement as related to talent capabilities, structure, and effectiveness.
  • Build a scalable approach for talent strategy development and deployment; provide mechanisms to drive alignment of talent priorities to business priorities.
  • Advise on organization design needs across the company, acting as subject matter authority to lead teams through (re)design efforts.
  • Establish and maintain organization design methodology and playbook to enable leaders and HR Business Partners to drive future design efforts independently and in alignment with Blue Origin's approach.
  • Partner with HR teams to identify and operationalize inspection points and measures that can be used to consistently evaluate organization and team health and build into a toolkit for leaders to use in ongoing fashion.
  • Work closely with business leaders on strategies that improve employee engagement and facilitate a culture that increases organizational efficiency.
  • Practice effective contracting with clear goal and role clarity for business leader(s) and HR partners across the lifecycle of the project and develop clear methods for effective measurement and sustainment of results.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in relevant area such as HR Management, Psychology, or Organization Development
    • 10+ years of experience in organization design or consulting
    • In-depth knowledge of organization diagnosis, strategy formulation and organization design within a complex organization.
    • Strong proficiency in taking a collaborative approach with stakeholders to identify needs and develop solutions.
    • Adaptive advising style, ability to flex approach to meet the needs of different organizations.
    • Strong strategic communication skills and ability to effectively influence and collaborate with people at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to build for scale, transferring expert knowledge into solutions that allow others to execute on their own with the right tools and frameworks.
    • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

      • Ability to figure things out without a road map, transform organizations, as well as break the mold in terms of ways to re-frame and solve problems.
      • Broad understanding and working knowledge of talent processes and solutions, including talent management, workforce planning, talent development, and talent acquisition.
      • Ability to support and coach leaders and team members when appropriate.
      • Experience driving development and change with executives, with strong writing and presentation skills.
