Engagement and Behaviour Specialist- Corby, NorthamptonshireIt's never too late to turn the tide16-year-old Tommy has found himself in a police cell after becoming involved with the wrong crowd and getting arrested for robbery. He's also been excluded from school and has no hope for a brighter future.That's when you step in.Fast forward 2 years and he hasn't stepped foot in a police station since. He has started an apprenticeship in carpentry and because of you is keen to turn his life around.By working with Fresh Start in Education, you would have the opportunity to inspire a future for young people like Tommy. 94% of our students leave our service with successful outcomes, and wouldn't it be great to contribute to our incredible work? If this sounds like the job for you, then keep reading.About the roleWorking with a student on a 1:1 basis, either in their home or a suitable venue arranged and risk assessed by the company.Planning and delivering education-based or life skills sessions, tailored to the student's needs and interests.Delivering 2-5 sessions per week, each session lasting between 3-5 hours. Sessions will take place between 9am - 4pm, Monday to Friday (days and times will be arranged with you before placement starts).The studentsThey are vulnerable and the majority have various SEN and/or SEMH needs.Difficulty with emotional regulation, which can result in challenging behaviours.Their needs make it difficult for them to access mainstream school and therefore they may have been out of education for some time.Students referred to us range from 5 - 25 years old. You will be matched to students based on your specialisms and expertise.The benefitsCompetitive hourly rate plus additional pay for planning and reporting.Subsidised travel costs, plus -15 per day for resources.CPD and training opportunities.Free wellbeing and counselling service.What you need to applyMinimum of 2 years' professional experience working with vulnerable children or young people with SEN, barriers to learning (e.g. challenging behaviours) and/or those with negative experiences impacting their mental health (e.g. trauma, SEMH needs).Experience delivering or supporting Numeracy and Literacy at secondary or primary levels.Consistent availability to commit to a minimum of 2 sessions per week (2 working days).A commitment to keeping children and young people safe, as well as a practical and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding.Only apply for this position if you meet the above criteria.
