SUMMARY

As a Project Manager you will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of commercial construction projects to ensure that the objectives of the projects are accomplished within the prescribed quality standards, funding parameters, and time frames by performing the following duties personally or through other personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.



  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine the key processes for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, funding parameters, time frames, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Plans and controls project costs and schedules. Balances plan with day to day activities. Involves others in the planning process. Evaluates results achieved versus planned.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Understands, interprets, and knows the work that must be performed by other sub-contractors.
  • Collaborates with project staff to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority. Delegates assignments and tasks to others to maximize their contributions.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. Models effective leadership behavior to others. Develops trust and commitment in others. Contributes to building cohesive and effective teams.
  • Maintains direct, on-going contact with customers. Anticipates and resolves problems to the customer's satisfaction.
  • Prepares financial statements and reports related to projects.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Coordinates project activities with government regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



    • Four year degree in construction management, civil engineering or related degree from a college or university
    • 5+ years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Curtainwall industry knowledge and experience preferred.


      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

      This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

      LANGUAGE SKILLS



      • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
      • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
      • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.


        MATHEMATICAL SKILLS



        • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
        • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
        • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
        • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


          REASONING ABILITY



          • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
          • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
          • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


            TECHNICAL SKILLS



            • Proficiency in Micro Soft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Explorer, and project management software.
            • Understanding of the manufacturing process and performance characteristics for glass and metal.
            • Ability to identify and apply products to applications. Understanding of system capabilities, fabrication and installation.
            • Ability to read wind load charts and calculate thermal expansion. Experienced in anchor design and selection.
            • Ability to read and understand engineering calculations and fastener requirements. Basic understanding of door hardware.
