You will be assisting the manager with welding and manufacturing steel frames for doors. These frames will be used in commercial buildings such as schools, hotels, businesses, and hospitals. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING: The Manufacturing Production Lead assists in overseeing and personally participating in all aspects of the production of hollow metal frames. Must be knowledgeable and capable of performing multiple manufacturing processes while working with various equipment and machinery. - The Lead will be required to work overtime as needed, typically during summer, including extended shift of 5:30 am to 4:00 pm weekdays and/or on Saturdays, as necessary. Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow and ensure that assigned team members follow ASSA ABLOY safety procedures.
  • Train, coach, and mentor assigned team members in the manufacturing work cell processes.
  • Assign work to team members accordingly and fill in where necessary.
  • Ensure assigned team members have the proper paperwork, templating and support to ensure all work is performed with the utmost quality and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure quality control by inspecting all work and materials.
  • Perform and have the ability to train others in each functional job within the frame cell;
    • Spot welding and grinding
    • Painting in a booth or touch-up spray can
    • Packaging and palletizing
    • CNC / Brake Press operations
    • Ensure that each employee has the proper tools and that all tools are being maintained in safe, good-working conditions.
    • Maintain shop schedules with the most up-to-date information, so to ensure timely completion of all orders.
    • Maintain inventory on necessary supplies while being responsible for the completion of all material requisitions for needed supplies.
    • Monitor and track production numbers required for daily reports.
    • Provide clear communications to team and other departments.
    • Other duties as assigned. Education, Training, and Experience:
      • 3+ years of experience in a like or similar industry.
      • Experience leading teams of five or more people in a manufacturing setting.
      • Experience converting sheets of light gauge metal to various forms and shapes is desirable.
      • Knowledge of hardware such as plates and hinges is beneficial.
      • Experience or willing to learn to drive forklifts or powered pallet jack. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Language Ability Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as; customer orders, shop drawings, and templates in English. Good communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to speak effectively before groups of people. - Mathematical Ability Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must know, understand and utilize basic mathematical formulas. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems. Computer Skills Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, email and order processing software; Knowledge of ERP systems and processes. Other Skills Excellent written/oral communication, organizational and technical service skills. Ability to work effectively and positively in a team environment under limited supervision.
