About the Role: The Estimator - Electrical for our Commercial & Industrial division is an integral part of the electrical construction process and ensures competitiveness, profitability, and growth. The Estimator is responsible for cost estimates for various electrical construction projects. Sturgeon Electric's Commercial and Industrial (C&I)---electrical construction division specializes in large-scale commercial electrical projects, telecommunications, traffic signalization, gas distribution, high voltage distribution service and maintenance to clients. Sturgeon Electric has experience performing projects under Integrated Lean Project Delivery methods, and also offers pre-construction services, in-house pre-fabrication capabilities, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities. Essential FunctionsPrepare complete cost estimates for substation construction projectsUnderstand and monitor program of work to ensure estimates are completed prior to deadlinesSchedule and attend field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to understand and determine constructability requirementsPerform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparationCompare various project documents for accuracy and consistencyParticipate in estimate review process with internal and external stake holdersAssist construction personnel throughout the project life-cycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimateAssist in the preparation and submission of change ordersFollow-up at the end of a project to close any loops in the estimating processUnderstand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable About You: QualificationsMinimum 1 - 3 years of Estimating experienceBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a similar field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesGood knowledge of local electrical codesAbility to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals and other relevant documentsKnowledgeable of electrical materials and methods of installationProficient with Microsoft Office applications and estimating softwareExcellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skillsTeam player mentalitySelf-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time while working independently What We Offer: Compensation & BenefitsSalary commensurate with experience, paid weekly.
