Physician Assistant | Surgery - Cardiothoracic Location: Tacoma, WA Employer: Lancesoft Inc Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Description We are seeking an experienced Locum Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant to support a high-volume inpatient surgical program. This role requires strong hands-on experience in complex cardiac and thoracic procedures and comfort managing critically ill patients in the ICU and step-down units. This is a high-acuity, procedure-heavy assignment with extensive surgical exposure and strong physician collaboration. Assignment Details Setting: Inpatient Schedule: Weekday coverage with 3–4 call days per week 1:4 weekend call rotation Shift Structure: Typical weekday hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (may extend) On-call days may run 10–12 hours Weekend Coverage: Required On-Call: Required (pager coverage) Patient Volume: ~20 adult patients per day Cases: 6–8 cardiac cases/week 9–12 thoracic cases/week EMR: Epic Reason for Coverage: Staff retirement Credentialing Timeline: ~90 days Key Responsibilities OR first assist for cardiac and thoracic surgeries Pre- and post-operative patient management ICU and step-down unit coverage Daily rounds and discharge planning Emergent bedside procedures (chest tubes, arterial lines, etc.) Evening, night, and weekend surgical coverage as needed Clinic wound checks and urgent visits when surgeon unavailable Procedures & Clinical Experience Required Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) Valve surgeries (open & minimally invasive) Aortic and aortic arch reconstruction Robotic-assisted thoracic surgery ( critical requirement ) VATS & DaVinci thoracic procedures Endoscopic vein harvest Open radial artery harvest Thoracic and foregut procedures Note: Providers without strong robotic thoracic experience will not be considered. Pay Rates (Includes Exact Gratis Hours) Hourly: $212–$222/hour Night Call: $432–$465 per night Includes 2 hours gratis for pager coverage 24-Hour On Call: $1,108–$1,368 per 24 hours Includes 8 hours gratis 24-Hour Holiday Call: $1,800–$2,232 per 24 hours Includes 8 hours gratis Call Back: $213–$220/hour Paid per hour of patient contact time only , after gratis hours Malpractice: Included in all rates Support & Team Structure 5 permanent surgeons (3 cardiac, 2 thoracic) 4 APPs (PAs/NPs) Dedicated RN support Robust surgical and ICU teams Submission Requirements Current CV (chronological, including locums history) Provider contact details Availability NPI and/or license number Malpractice/background documentation References (if available) Scope of services Requirements REQUIRED Qualifications (Must Be Met) Board-Certified Physician Assistant – REQUIRED Minimum 3 years Cardiothoracic Surgery experience – REQUIRED ACLS, BLS, DEA – REQUIRED Clean malpractice history – REQUIRED Robotic thoracic surgery experience – REQUIRED WA license preferred (IMLC considered) Benefits ??
